Damian Polak is an accomplished entrepreneur and passionate advocate for the circular economy, based in Chicago, IL. With a solid background in operations and a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Damian brings a strategic, detail-oriented approach to advancing sustainability and reverse logistics.
At age 23, Damian pioneered Illinois’ first bin store, marking his entry into reverse logistics. After gaining valuable retail experience, he transitioned into wholesale, serving as CEO of a company that he led to over $14 million in gross sales within just three years—80% of which came from the resale of returns and “unsorted” inventory that others considered problematic. Immersed in the secondary market of returned products from major retailers, Damian developed innovative ways to extract value from assets that many others overlooked. With a deep understanding of ecommerce, marketing, sales, and logistics, Damian brings a unique perspective to the All Things Circular team, unlocking secondary markets many didn’t even know existed.
Damian has also built a robust online community through education. Five years ago, he recognized that the reverse logistics and liquidation world was largely unregulated and chaotic, presenting an opportunity to educate. Through free videos and content, he has helped hundreds of entrepreneurs gain a foothold in the industry, empowering them to start and grow their own successful businesses—many of which are thriving today.
Dedicated to promoting circularity through innovative and efficient solutions, Damian focuses on five key areas within the circular economy:
- Reverse Logistics and Returns Management: Designing and optimizing operations to transform product returns and excess inventory into recovery opportunities and sustainable supply chain solutions.
- Liquidation and Closeouts: Developing strategies that enable sellers to recover cash and free up space, while providing buyers access to high-margin secondary market deals.
- Circular Marketplace Enablement: Creating verified marketplace models for surplus goods that connect buyers and sellers, emphasizing transparency and circularity to extend product lifecycles.
- Operational and Financial Management: Leveraging his expertise in accounting and operations to maximize value recovery and promote sustainability through process optimization.
- Advocacy and Education: Sharing best practices, industry insights, and resources via social media and educational initiatives to empower professionals and foster collaboration across the industry.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Damian is an avid traveler. Having explored 30 countries before the age of 30, he believes every journey offers valuable perspectives that enrich his understanding of global dynamics, insights that continually inform his approach to reverse logistics and the circular economy.
